MINUTES

WELCOME:     Marilynn Wood, Co-Chairman

ATTENDING: Melanee Higgins, Heidi Tasso, Kathleen Cheshire, Rick, Kathy Hawkes, Silvia, Marilynn Wood, Terry Ogborn and Kaye Winters

EXCUSED:        Lanae Anderson, Shelly Johnson, George Phillips,

GENERAL COMMUNITY COUNCIL INFORMATION: Marilynn

Remaining School Year Community Council Meeting Schedule:

  • February 11, 2015
  • April 22, 2015

Lanae and Terry attended the District Training for Community Councils and found it informative

MILLCREEK HIGH SCHOOL GENERAL INFORMATION:Terry

  1. Gave each Council member a Thanksgiving Dinner Invitation.  RSVP was requested
  2. Shared with the group that Heidi had received the State Human Rights Award.  This is a significant honor for her and the school.  The students are the real winners.
  3. Explained that the State Advanced Ed Accreditation Training was done at Millcreek last week

SCHOOL PROGRAM REPORTS:         

Kathleen:

  1. shared updated testing and School Report Cards information
  2. Shared several TA Service Projects that are being done for Christmas

Heidi:

  1. updated the council on School Safety and Emergency Preparedness efforts
  • Millcreek will present their information at the district Safety Meeting on Thursday
  1. explained the new CSIP and how the GVC/SLO’s tie in to the efforts
  2. 3.      discussed the school’s Comprehensive Guidance Information:
  • much more credit is being earned during Content Recovery Program after school
  • the Long Lunch Thursday has been a success
  • Concurrent Enrollment is up
  1. Reviewed the Community Partnerships
  • A new $10,000 Elks Impact Grant has been received                       

Terry:

  1. Reviewed the Progress Report for 2013-2014 for the School Trustlands Information:
  2. Reviewed the School Trustlands Plan for the 2014-2015 School Year.  A handout was provided
  3. Edgeunity software purchase and use was discussed.  Both the school and district are very pleased with how it is helping students.

Appreciation for the willingness on this committee to participate and support Millcreek High School faculty, staff, and students was expressed.   They make a difference!
